Brussels

So this weekend, the weekend of 17 and 18 May 2019, I went to Brussels. Just two days to see and enjoy the city.

An Instagram page called Travelcheq also asked me to vlog so I made a video about my stay in Brussels. Check it out here!

I also made a video myself for my YouTube-Channel which you can check out here, to see all the sightseeings Brussels had to offer.

Back to my trip. On Friday I packed my bags because I knew I would spend the whole day on the street before heading to my hotel. I tried to not pack a lot so I wouldn’t have to carry it around all day. Just some clean clothing, toothbrush and paste and my laptop with charger went into my bag. Of course I also brought my phone with charger, earphones and the train tickets.

Around 8 AM I left my room and walked to Breda Central Station. Beforehand I had bought the tickets to go to Brussel Central Station. I checked in and got on the train. It would be a trip of one and a half hours on the train. Luckily I brought some stuff to read and study. The first thing I saw when I arrived was the cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula. It is built in 13th century and was finished in the 16th century.

Next thing on the list was the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, but on the way there I had to stop for some nice waffles. I also bought two new shirts which looked really nice. After I finally arrived at the Basilica I walked around, took a lot of pictures and enjoyed the view over the city. I couldn’t help myself and I had to stop at the King Baudouin Stadium. Unfortunately I could not get inside the stadium so I went on to the highlight of the day: the Atomium. It was way bigger than I thought it would be and I was impressed by the building which I could already see from far, far away.

After the Atomium I called it a day and decided to go to my hotel. It was still an

hour walking so when I finally reached the hotel I was quite exhausted. I watched

some football on the television and went to sleep.

The next day I wanted to sleep for a little bit longer to rest a bit more and prepare myself for another day of walking. Around 10 o’clock I got some breakfast at the hotel and packed my bags to leave.

Even though I could take a bus to the centre to avoid another long walk, I still decided to walk, maybe I came across some nice things I would miss otherwise. For instance, I walked past the Brussels Media Centre and ended up at the tram station. The first thing I saw when I walked back into civilization was Le Botanique. A concert hall and a garden full of flowers. To me it looked quite impressive.

On my way to the Grand Place I crossed the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. I sat down for a while and enjoyed a street artist who was singing some covers. Eventually I lost track of time and sat there for around an hour, just listening to the singer.

Once I saw that I only had three hours left before I had to go back to Breda, I went to the Grand Place, took some pictures and got to the last thing I wanted to see: Manneken Pis. I knew that a lot of people have high expectation of this and it ends in disappointment and I understand why it ends like that. It is not worth the time to go there.

I bought a souvenir (mini Atomium) and went to the trainstation to go back home. I loved this trip and you can check out the video I made of it right here.

I hope you enjoyed reading and I see you next time!
