Barcelona
On Sunday the 15th of July I flew to El Prat, Barcelona for my second language course ever. This time I would stay a little bit shorter than the summer before. Two weeks, so I could still enjoy my vacation a little and rest.

I flew from Amsterdam with KLM, the plane left at 10:20 in the morning and I arrived at 12:35 in the heat of Spain. Just like last year I booked a transfer from the airport to my apartment to make it a bit easier. This time I didn't have to drive for a couple hours to the city, it was only an half an hour drive to my apartment with the taxi. First they dropped of some other students at their place and I was one of the last ones.

When I arrived at my apartment I instantly met my housemates in the living room because my own room wasn't done yet. After a few minutes I could get into my room and unpack. My room was about the same size as last year, I only didn't have a sight from the window to the street but to the yard. It made it a lot hotter in my room but luckily I had a fan to keep my room a bit colder.

The next day was the time to go to school. The new students were expected at 8:00 AM to do a test to examine our level and place us in a class. The first thing I noticed was that the school was much bigger than the one in Salamanca and it had a lot more students. After I had taken the test we got to our classes. It was hard at first to fresh up my Spanish but the teacher helped as much as needed. I had a really nice class with lovely classmates from Germany, Italy, Japan, Dubai and Egypt.

School was done for the day and I wanted to explore the city. I think I've walked 20 kilometers a day in Barcelona to be able to see all the things I wanted to see. I was prepared for a bigger city than Salamanca but the atmosphere was also really different. Not focused on students as much and the coziness was something I missed a bit.

In my free time I went to La Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, Mirador de Colom, Plaza Espanya and of course Camp Nou. I walked around La Sagrada Familia for about two hours, shooting photos and staring at the basilica. Even though it won't be finished until 2026 it was impressive to see it. At Camp Nou I had a tour around the stadium. I went there a bit earlier to visit the store and look at all the things that surround the stadium. I walked the tour with earphones and a digital tour guide so I could take a bit more time if needed. I especially wanted to take the time for this:

In 2006, when I was 7 years old, I also visited Barcelona and got a tour around the stadium and I wanted to recreate the picture.
All those places were amazing but I am all about views. I love to have a beautiful view over the city. At Montjuïc Hill I got that view. An amazing sight over the city with the mountains in the back. The view from Park Güell was also amazing because of the beach that I couldn't see from the Montjuïc Hill.

During my stay in Barcelona and my time at school, the school was also shooting promotion videos for their YouTube channel. I saw the videos a couple months ago and it was so nice to see all the people I met in Barcelona and the teachers again!
At the end of my stay and course at school I received my diploma! I definitely want to continue with improving my Spanish and I love these trips to Spain, so probably another one will follow. Keep an eye on my website and other socials to see if that's going to happen!

My return home, on Saturday the 28th of July, went well. I left my apartment on time to hand over the keys of the place and went to the bus station to take the bus to the airport. It was a bit chaotic because of the terminals and different stops of the bus but eventually the driver told me where I needed to get out. After I checked in my luggage I walked around a bit, visited some stores and sat down to eat some food. Before I went to the plane I bought some last souvenirs to take home. My flight left the ground at 13:20 and I arrived back home in The Netherlands around 15:45 and went home with my parents who were waiting for my at the airport.

That was the end of my trip and I hope you enjoyed reading about it!
