Learn

Ever since I was young I've loved learning languages. When I was twelve years old I went to Greece with my parents and sister and always wanted to ask things to the local people. Just to practise in that language. For instance, I was always the one in Greece who asked for the bill, in Germany I wanted to ask which way we needed to go and in Spain I wanted to know how I could ask for a picture or autograph, just in case I might walk into a football player that I knew.

The summer after I decided to learn the Greek alphabet on holiday, just because I could. From that moment it started, in school I choose the languages, on the internet I searched things about culture and at home I planned trips to places I would like to go (even though I didn't take them). This led to a lot of knowledge of different countries, more perception on communication and I started to remember things better. I would definitely recommend learning a new language if you want to improve your memory!

In 2017 I decided to learn a language at a school, not just by myself at home. I took a trip with an organisation that orginazes language trips to all over the world. After I visited a market with stands from organisations that plan trips like this, I choose one and planned my first trip to Salamanca for five weeks! If you want to know how this went, click here.

As I enjoyed it so much, a year later I went again. Same company, same country, different city: Barcelona!

And of course I describe my trip on this website. If you want to read that, click here.

It doesn't stop there. Now, 2019, I have a gap year and I am already planning a new trip to Spain. This time to Valencia. Number one reason, it is close to the beach and it is a big city. That combination is gold for me. It is not sure yet, that I will go, but I hope my plans will continue and I can take the trip in the summer.

All these trips are all very well, but I do not get a diploma that is good enough for a job. So, in my gap year I've also been busy with a new study. The one that grapped attention and has been on my mind for a couple of years is the Translation Academy in Maastricht.

But, recently I went to the Breda University for Tourism Management and I think that's the match! Not only do I learn a language and about other countries, I also get a little business, which I am interested in as well! So I hope it will all work out.

If it works out, I have to do a internship in the third year in a foreign country! I hope I can find a nice place in Spain or somewhere else!

Of course, I will write about that trip as well if it's gonna take place!
