Eating disorders

Eating disorders are misunderstood a lot. It's not as easy as 'just eat more' or 'stop eating so much at once'. It's a psychological problem. That's why it is so hard to beat an eating disorder. Your head tells you to eat or not eat something.

I have experienced an eating disorder myself. Which one it was, I am not sure. I had some signals of more than one disorder. At first it looked like orthorexia, next anorexia and in my recovery process binge eating. I reovered from it myself but choosing recovery is an important step in recovery. It's deciding for yourself that you are going to recover and reaching out to an expert or doctor for help. I highly recommend looking for help if you want to recover the right way, I did it myself but the process would have been much easier if I knew what I was doing and what the next step was going to be.

With my own experience I hope to help others understand it, accept it and recover from it, even though I know it is hard. Once you start viewing the eating disorder as something else than your own mind you can slowly start to recover. Something that is really important to understand about an eating disorder is that most of the time it is about control. Someone who loses control over their life or a situation can regain that control by controlling their foodintake or restricting themselves. This is not the right way to handle the situation and facing the actual problem is something you need to work towards to. You can do that by changing your behaviour or point of view, that's a long progress but if you don't give up, you will eventually recover.
